Things to Know When Renting a Car in Uganda

Are you coming next to renting a car in Uganda? If yes, then, there are things you should note/ understand and are very helpful. Car rental is not such complicated, all things about the service are right forward. Car rental services in Uganda are now common, and at any time one can decide to hire a car. Okay, you are set to hire out vehicle and seat behind the wheels of your rental.

There are a lot to know when going to rent a car, these are very significant issues which are answering directly some of your questions. You may be a returning or first timer, but there is no difference when hiring a car in Uganda and these point are helpful to any person. Just know that car rental in Uganda is a trending traveling mode, many of the travelers are now turning for the trail.

Ask for the advice

This is important for any first timer, as you place your inquiry seek for advice on the route plan and best car rental. This will put a smile on your gorgeous especially when found the best and well versed reservationist. The biggest challenge is route selection, and having this helps and enables you cruise with your car rental lousily. Advice also will go for the best car selection, which is best for what purpose, groups or solo travelers among many things to inquire about.

Booking a car

When renting a car its better you confirm the vehicle with some month. Several travelers opting to rent a car have faced challenges of renting a car on last minute. Vehicles are not always available, they’re always in the field and placing your booking makes it simple to have your car selection separated for that date. It’s important also when booking a car rental you make a deposit as your car rental agency may suggest. Some rental agencies suggest 30% and other 20% of the total rental. This is a commitment that you’re ready to take your rental and your handler is automatic forced to keep your vehicle available in a perfect mechanical condition on the date suggested.

Making payments

Payments are always made in dollar, following the deposit made when confirming your rental. The rest of the balance is paid on the last date, this means you should walk around with cash money. Driving

In Uganda we drive on the left hand side of the road. Make some imagination practices when not used to the left side driving. You must have a valid driving license and for foreign travelers should have a valid international driving license. Any driver must be ages 18 and above, try as possible to observe traffic rules. However, driving in Uganda is not difficult and complicated, but the other road users makes it a point to have be vigilant whenever seated behind the wheels.

What extra costs is paid

Though almost all working policies suggest that you have to leave some extra money in the office. The only things that remain is maybe your passport and driving license copies. There is no charge of extra charges, for case of accidents. When an incident happens when driving, then the police should investigate the matter, and communicate to your operator for the way forward. But in all not extra cost are charge leaving other factors constant.

Pick up and Drop off

In most cases, car rental services in Uganda are offered at free of charge of car delivery to their clients in areas around Kampala and Entebbe. Further than that you have to meet some costs of fuel and driver to deliver your vehicle. Car rental pick-up in most cases is done at Entebbe International Airport upon your arrival or at your communicated lodge, hotel or apartment. And the same applies to drop off, we suggest that you communicate before drop off so that you deliver the vehicle to our representative. There is also no charge when drop off is done in areas around Kampala and Entebbe.

About insurance

The car rental are already insured and you don’t need to buy the car insurance. All rental cars have both third party and comprehensive insurance. The third party caters for people and damages made outside of the vehicle when the car caused an accident. Then the comprehensive covers damages on the vehicle. The insurance doesn’t cover people inside the vehicle, but you can ask your home insurance providers if they can give you that traveling insurance. But you don’t need to buy extra insurance. However, when your car rental involves crossing borders, then you will have to buy the COMESA insurance at the border. So, for this case when planning to cross borders you have to notify your rental agency in time and pay the extra $50 to purchase you the COMESA insurance.

Road assistance services

Most operators have the 24 hours car rental road assistance in case the car rental has gotten some challenges. Car rental are always kept in the perfect mechanical condition to ensure that travelers cruise unconditionally. These are vehicle and any time breakdown may occur, the office and contact person’s number are perfect places to give assistance. The car rentals used in Uganda are a bit not complicated and there mechanics across who can help handle situations. Don’t do any repair on the vehicle before informing your handler.

Difference between long and short term rental

The long term rental means travelers taking a car rental for 30 days and above have a special arrangement of rental. Sometimes these rental arrangement can cut even up to 10% discount. And short term rental is the normal rental and in most case it doesn’t attract any grant. For travelers hiring a vehicle for longer time means these must get at least a special treatment. When want best discounted offers sometimes they come with long term arrangements. Also long term rental can apply to travelers taking about 5 vehicles at once and for a period of not less than 20 days.
