The 5th Edition of the Pentagon Post Primary Tournament; a Schools football and netball tournament, organized by Pentagon Development Club of Gombe Division, Wakiso District was climaxed on Saturday 17th June 2023 after a colorful two days of action that attracted over 13 schools.

In football, defending champion Imperial High School overcame Cityland College 1-0 while in the netball final; St. Mary’s High School defeated St. John’s Secondary School 27:12.

After the finals; our reporter Gaad William Bizimana caught up with some of the students who took the tournament by storm with their performance and achievement.

“I am so thankful to God that I have emerged as the top scorer of the championship. And the fact that we are runners up leaves us with many lessons learnt and we have to do better next time,” noted Nsubuga Musa of Cityland College who walked home with the Top Scores’ accolade.

“I am so proud to be a netballer and that’s been a sport I have enjoyed my whole life. Having made it as the top scorer of the tournament shows me that I am somewhere near my role model; She Cranes Captain Peace Proscovia; and I will not stop working hard,” said Prossy Omonya of St. Mary’s High School.

“I am proud to have led my team to defend the championship and as a player I am so excited to have been named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. I want to thank my teammates and the school administration for supporting us through all this. I am not stopping here; I am going to work harder so that one day my name gets listed on the national team,” said Derrick Kakketo of Imperial High School.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank the pentagon secretariat for successfully organizing this tournament and the schools that participated. This time round there has been an increase in the female participants which I regard as a positive and we look forward to making the tournament more conducive for girls,” said Alice Nakayiza; Netball Coordinator, Pentagon Development Club.
