Lango Begins Collecting Akii-Bua Signatures to Petition CAF
The collection of one million signatures to petition the Confederation of African Football CAF has kick-started across Lango Sub-Region.
The move followed the government’s decision to exclude Akii Bua stadium from the list of Stadia to be constructed as one of the requirements by CAF to host the 2027 AFCON tournament.
During the Launch held at Grand Pacific Hotel, Issa Otto Amiza the team leader said they want the government to stick to their earlier pronouncement to build Akii Bua Stadium and either Buhinga in Portpotal or one in Hoima.
Otto Amiza said that if FUFA fails to heed to CAF regulations then they may have no option but to go to court of Arbitration for Sports to block Uganda from hosting rights.
Sarah Awor Angweri the female Workers representative for Lira City said Lira District gave land with title to National Council for Sports but still the government is not willing to Construct Akii Bua.
She said the government is deliberately killing the talents of the younger generations from Lango and Northern Uganda.
