The National Unity Platform party presidential candidate Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine has been duly nominated by the independent electoral commission to vie for the 2021 presidential election.
Also known as Bobi Wine, Kyagulanyi who is aged 38 years has been confirmed to vie for presidential elections against incumbent Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who has ruled the country since 1986.
Kyagulanyi has encountered one of the most chaotic moments of his budding political career that started with participation in the Kyadondo by-election three years ago. The nomination has come amidst stringent restrictions against gatherings as government claimed they were enforcing Ministry of Health’s precautionary measures on the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
The first day of his nomination has also been not a normal political day with the security forces using teargas against his supporters all the way from Magere to Kyambogo University where the Electoral Commission has been waiting to receive him.
Kyagulanyi has been nominated on the tail end of the nomination day. He was in company of his wife Barbie Ithungo and an entourage of NUP leaders.
