Uganda Cranes Players Banned From Interviews Regarding Proposed League Reforms

Uganda cranes players have been banned by the head coach Jonathan McKinstry to engage in any interview by media houses regarding the ongoing the ongoing proposed League reforms by the Federation of Uganda’s Football Association (FUFA).

Recently, FUFA came up with a proposal to cut on the number of the clubs playing in the Uganda Premier League from a 16 to 12 that has received criticism from different players, coaches, team managers, fans and well wishers.

According to the Cranes Manager, the restrictions binds with players who were summoned in the provisional squad for the 2020 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

“Many players have been approached by different media housesto respond to the proposal regarding league updates here in Uganda… I would thereby advise avoiding the topic if possible..”

McKinstry stressed out that it appears that some of the information being provided by some media houses in unfortunately incomplete and inaccurate just because they need cheap headlines in this football drought season. He then alerted players on the right personalities who are meant to discuss on the matter.

This comes a few days after the cranes captain and first goal keeper Denis Onyango together with Moses Waiswa came out to publicly express their disagreement with FUFA’s proposal and this could have been the move that prompted Jonathan McKinstry to ban players from further media engagements.
