SC Vipers Strikes The Prisoners by 5 – 0 at St Mary’s

The Venoms have resurrected their hopes of winning the Startimes Uganda Premier league following a classy display at St Mary’s stadium today evening while taking on Maroons FC.

Despite missing a crucial win in their previous game against the Tax collectors following a 3 – 1 loss, the table Leaders have striked five to sink the Prisoners into relegation threat.

Vipers SC first saw the back of the net through Allan Kayiwa’ tap in from Milton Kariisa’s well laid cross, a few minutes into halftime, for the game to head into break with the Hosts’ lead.

After missing a sitter, Brian Nkuubi doubled Vipers lead with a beautiful header off Innocent Wafula’s cross as the game had just returned for the 2nd Stanza.

Karisa Milton then scored the third, his first Venoms goal since his come back from a spectacular ball from Brian Nkuubi before the Brilliant header from Paul Mucureezi into the back of the net from a well curled in cross from Aziz Kayondo to make it 4 – 0.

The visitors’ efforts to get a consolation all failed as goal keeper Fabien Mutongola denied every close chance they got.

Late in the 70’s, Abraham Ndugwa with his first touch on the ball shoved it into the back of the net to make the score 5 – 0 and thus the final.

Vipers now continue to clinch on top of the table by 53 points in 24 games, four points away from the defending champions in the second place, KCCA FC (49) who also registered a win over Police FC by Herbert Achai’s solo goal.

Maroons is now seated 13th on the 16-team table with 24 points, just 2 above relagation.

In the other game played today, Mbarara City beat BUL FC by 1 – 0.
